You’ve heard of bar crawls and bakery crawls — now join Philly SIGGRAPH for our first-ever Capture Crawl!
What is a Capture Crawl?
It’s a walk through several locations to capture cool sculptures, textures, and reference material for use in your 2D and 3D projects.
We’ll spend the afternoon exploring parks and local sculptures while practicing photogrammetry, reference photography, and even gaussian splatting! Whether you’re interested in scanning assets for games and VFX, gathering texture references, or simply enjoying a creative walk with fellow artists, this event is for you.
Our route will include stops at locations such as LOVE Park, the Academy of Natural Sciences, Calder Gardens, and the Rodin Museum, ending with an optional happy hour at the Rodin Garden Bar.
What should I bring?
- Comfortable walking shoes
- A water bottle (Hydration is important!)
- A fully charged smartphone with plenty of storage space
- Optional: DSLR, VR camera, selfie stick, tripod, or portable battery pack
- Optional: Download the RealityScan app and/or Scaniverse app ahead of time for photogrammetry captures or Gaussian Splats
All skill levels are welcome! Come learn, explore, and connect with the Philly SIGGRAPH community while capturing the city through a new lens!
